The seaside♥

Me, Stefania and her friends went to the carnival on Saturday. It was a blast! We walked the pier before we went to the carnival. I have never seen anything more romantic and beautiful in my entire life. There is a huge fountain that is out a little bit into the sea. It was so pretty at sunset watching all the couples walk by, taking pictures with the view. The way the sea was reflecting the sunsets colors was the most extraordinary thing. There was no error in that moment, only glee.

School is getting a little frustrating since I haven't started my Italian lessons yet. I start them this Wednesday though, thank goodness! FINALLY alllll of my classes are sorted out. I'm just waiting for them to get the times I switch classes right. The kids in my class are so helpful about helping me learn. They quiz me and teach me new phrases which I am so thankful for beyond belief!

I now also have a whole new respect for Mrs. Black and Mr. Edwards..my english teachers. I never realized how hard it was to teach someone grammer until I had to help my host sister with her english homework and correct it..and explain why I corrected it. I should have just packed my enlish teachers with me to help me explain because it is so hard to recall all the names of grammer terms like a possesive something..a prepositional phase..and on and on and on. Espcially when an english prof at your school asks you to come up to the front of the room..in front of 30 kids..and explain what a verb is. Oh my, my, my. I'm having so much fun though!

SCHOOL

School started as of today. I attend th Leonardo Da Vinci Scientifico School. Which is the most like an American school..so that good. They kids my age already read like whole novels in Latin..but i could pick out which words were and & but ..hahahaa and other simple Latin words. The math is on the same level as I am so I know what I am doing in there..and I wasn't present for the rest of the day so who knows how the rest is going to go! I got to talk to an english teacher so all my classes are good and I'm taking what I should be taking in my hometown. Well..except P.E. ..which I have no problem with aynways haha!

I got swarmed by people with millions of questions..but now I know how the German students felt when they came! I understood most of what they were saying though! Most of them speak fairly good english anyways so it's really easy to communicate.
My italian lessons start the 30th so things will get A LOT easier.

I looooooove Italia so far! This afternoon I'm going with Stefy, Terra, Rocco, and Alessandro on vespa's around Salerno..should be fun! Then after that I get to show off my horrible tennis skills to Giovanna (other host sister) hahaha..should be interesting.

First Days in Italia!

Ohhhhh my my my. Salerno is a paradise! Its been rainy for the past days..like Forks, in Twilight. Palm trees line the middle of the streets everywhere and they have a beautiful seafront park that looks over the beach. Almost like Hawaii. Tiny shops of all kind are everywhere! I couldn't have gotten a better city!

Good thing I retained my french and some spanish because now I know somewhat of what people are talking about. It's getting easier to understand people since italian is all I here 24/7! I even watched What Happens In Vegas in Italian ♥ ! I know alot of small words now so it's easier to communicate..way easier! Italians have a busy lifestyle it's hard to keep up! I fall asleep in the car everywhere we go! hahaha
And I don't think I have ever watched a football (soccer) game so intentlly with anyone before ..Milan won! <3

I don't think I have EVER eaten sooo much food in my entire life before! The mamà is concerned that I don't eat enough..but I have been eating so much my stomach hurts! Hahaha..cultural differences. The food is soooooooo good! There cheese isn't as good though. I'll be fat when I come back!

They get up very early in the morning and go to bed very late..but after they eat lunch they take naps. And they don't have doorknobs...which is weird. Just key holes. And something you sit on after you use the toliet but I don't know how to use it..it looks scary hahaha.

They have a four story casa with a spiral staircase, a bmw, fiat and a vespa! Way different from how I live in America!

School starts tomorrow! :/ I'm nervous because I'm not oging to have any idea where to go or what to do..and I don't speak Italian very well. So this should be interesting!

I LOVE my family! They are all so so so so cute! Raffy has a horse, Cantora. She does jumps with him and she's extremely good! Steffy is getting ready to become a restaurant manager..she is studying in school for it. Mamà stays home and cooks and cleans alot. And the papà is a buisness manager for designer labels for the lines that haven't come out yet..so he brings home free gifts a lot. Woo! They are all so so so funny..they laugh at the way we do things in America. I didn't know how to cut my meat so I was doing it weirdly and inspecting every piece..and when I looked up they were all staring at me and they laughed hahaha. AND I set their toaster on fire! They put foil around their panini before they put it in the toaster..which is odd. But the mamà set the timer so I could jusy take it out whenever I wanted to..but I didn't know that so I just let it go until it was done. Oh my..smoke was everywhere and the house smelled the rest of the day. And my sandwhich was black lmao. Good thing they have a sense of humor and thought it was hilarious or that would not have been good! They all just laughed.

It's almost time!

I have two more days until I leave for Italy and I'm getting sooo excited! I leave for New York on the 9th and I'm staying in the JKF hotel there with all the other AFSers who are going to Italy too and have an orientation in the morning. Then on the 10th that afternoon we leave for Italy!! We fly to Switzerland and then off to Rome! ♥

I can't wait to meet my family! Two days left to pack..and it is not going very well lol. My closet does NOT fit in my suit case and its so hard to part with everything! >:o By far the worst thing I've had to do yet ..don't ever try it! However I don't think sitting here watching a movie is helping the process any. Boy, oh boy, is my last day of school going to be hard but I can't wait!

I had my going away party yesterday and it was sooo much fun! I got so many awesome gifts! Everybody I love was there, we had a blast! I'm going to miss you all! :/
